A new batch of beneficiaries rose up to the challenge of work exposure to public service as they availed the SPES Program of DOLE this year 2018 in partnership with LGU-Bislig City. A hundred and seventy students were privilege to gain this benefit among those who applied as committed by the City Government of Bislig under the governance of City Mayor Librado C. Navarro. Starting from a five day orientation seminar, students were given lectures on work values and ethics, labor market information and were conducted with career guidance and employment coaching. Included in the orientation seminar was the discussion on Organic Agriculture in coordination with City Organic Agri-Fishery Complex (COAFC) to encourage students to go organic.
With this advocacy of the City, the students were deployed at COAFC to better acquaint themselves of organic farming. SPES Beneficiaries were exposed to daily operational work routines as well as first-hand experience in agricultural work. It was a refreshing practice for the students to be accustomed to organic life. Hopefully, this will be a customary practice of the City in the implementation of SPES in the years to come. Students were also instructed to do field survey to all barangays for National Skills Registration Program of DOLE. Doing house to house interview, they were taught how to deal with people and explain through questionnaire method.
The program this year covered the period from May 7 – June 5, 2018. The success of this year’s program is due to the support of City Mayor Librado C. Navarro as well as the Barangay Councils. It will not be possible without the people behind its operation – City Information Officer Engr. Rose Lee L. Cancio, PESO Manager Ms. Laine S. Elechicon, COAFC Manager Ms. Lolita P. Sayman, and others not mentioned who contributed greatly in its success. Looking forward for another one!
